Quad Water Leak Sensor: 3rd Gen Water-leak Sensor with Programmable Detection Sensitivity
The Majority Vote Principle
In the old water/soil moisture sensor, the only water presence detector on the tip consisted of a pair of tin pad biased with a 10MΩ resistor.
Depending on what kind of surface the tip touches, or what kind of traces the water leaves after it dries up, the sensor could report water detected when there is no water, or vice versa.
The 3rd gen quad water leak sensor solves this problem by having 4 independent detectors, each triggers at very different level of "wetness". You can select how many must report "water detect" for the water detect event to be generated, email / notifications to be sent and IFTTT or custom URL to be triggered, etc.
With the updated app/Web interface, the 4 detector states are shown as an icon with 4 squares, displayed in placed of the signal bars to allow you easily spot the water detect status without opening the details screen.
Multi-Purpose Detector / Analog Voltage Input Mode
These standard gold plated detectors can be configured from app to accept digital (i.e. relay) or analog voltage input. The analog voltage readings are then logged for later plotting, or you can enable monitoring on it just like temperature monitoring. Below picture shows connecting to a 0-3V output gas sensor module from SPEC sensors.
